Spanish Friendship Jelang Play Three World Cup

Spain will play three international friendly match in the weeks before the World Cup in South Africa next year and will be based near Johannesburg during the tournament, soccer federation said the country, Tuesday.

European champions will play two friendly matches at home on May 29 and June 8 and away on June 5. Opponent team for the games were yet to be determined.

During the World Cup which took place June 11 to July 11, Spanish national team will be based in Potchefstroom, a university town about 120 kilometers (75 miles) southwest of Johannesburg. They will arrive in South Africa on June 10.

One of the favorite team win the tournament was great, was in Group H along with Chile, Honduras and Switzerland.

They are the number one in the FIFA rankings last year for the second time in a row, making them the only team ever to inhabit the top position in the rankings without winning the World Cup.

Often accused of poor perform at the international level, their best result was the same, fourth place in 1950.

Spain had only appeared in two other World Cup until 1978, but escaped at every tournament the same after that.
